Hello All!
Has anyone started planting their warmer weather seeds outdoors yet? Our nights have been in the upper 40's and 50's and daytime weather is about 65 - 80. Lots of rain. Looks like we are clear of any frost for the next 10 days. Our last frost date is May 4. Do you think it is safe to start planting some warmer weather plants and seeds?

Frost Date May 15 for me
Hi Little Thumb~
I'm in NE Indiana and our frost date isn't until May 15 but our local extension office recommends to be extra safe we should wait until May 18 or 20. After all that I'd done to plant, grow and baby all of my seedlings, I'm not taking any chances with my little greens! I've worked so hard to grow these that I'm waiting until I'm absolutely positively sure they'll be ok out there in the scary outdoors! At least if they're inside I know they're safe! It would break my heart to loose them b/c of a little impatience on my part.
I'm enjoying caring for my cold season veggies for now so I'm not in a big hurry to get those warm season plants out yet. I still haven't even started my warm season seeds yet, but I have a heated mat so they'll germinate pretty quick I assume. Probably going to do them this week sometime.
Hope yours do well if you do but them out!
Best of luck!!

Re: Zone 5b SFGers
Hi Little Thumb, We're having a bit of a cold snap here right now, frosts and freezes predicted tonight! We've been spoiled with several early warm days. Now I'm not even sure my spring crops will survive. Brrr
The weather must be warmer where you are. But I would wait with the summer crops 'tll well after last frost date just to be sure. I know I want to rush things too. I think I even started my indoor seeds too early. Will I never learn? My prayer is, "Please Lord, grant me patience, and please hurry!"

Yes, it must be warmer here in Pott county. We are in tornado valley. Today the wind is about 40mph at tops. Lucky for us there are no tornadoes right now. Not sure how to protect the garden if the wind gets any worse. Any ideas?
