Question about potatoes

When can you stop hilling your potatoes? This is my second year growing potatoes and my beds are 18 inches deep. I planted them close to the bottom and they are now about a foot over the top. Last year we had the high heat and drought and my potatoes grew, but not very tall. This spring has been wet and cool and my potatoes are growing fast and healthy.

You should do it at least once so the tubers will not green. With some varieties doing it more will increase production. Be sure to stop by the time you have flowering (not all varieties flower though) so that the plant can focus on the tubers and not on growing more vine.
