Since I already had a high rise going I followed with carrots. Although both root veggies, I don't believe they share the same diseases or pests.

I might try carrots. The potatoes aren't in boxes, but 20 feet mounded rows still. I might try building a temp. 4-6 feet raised bed for fall/winter carrots. My spring carrots did horrible for some reason.

If your potatoes are in mound rows and you are able to get the wood, I would start converting the area to SFG. After Potatoes?? Icon_biggrin

You could try parsnips, too. They overwinter nicely and are sweeter after frost.

HaHa. They think the whole SFG idea is weird. But it's worked great so far. I have raspberries, strawberries, flowers and some of my garden in boxes. Definitely need a watering system next year, but I've hardly had to do any work in the SFG compared to daily maintanance of the in-laws garden.
