I decided to go with their Triple-Threat package since I have a couple new beds that I have never applied beneficial nematodes to, and I have seen various & sundry grubs in there that i don't know what kind they are. We had an outbreak of Squash Vine Borer this year, which we normally don't have much of a problem with, so I decided to do a full-on attack any and all bad guys.

OG, how many beds do you have, how much do you apply each year, and how often do you do it?

I currently have 5 raised beds, 320 sq ft. The smallest quantity of beneficial nematodes they sell will cover 1,600 sq ft, so it is an overkill for my beds. I am going to try to break the ones they ship into two portions so that I can apply once when they arrive, refrigerate the unused portion, and the apply the second part 10 days later. Even if the second batch isn't successful, the first application will be more than adequate for full coverage. I last applied beneficial nematodes 3 years ago, and had great success with them. At that time, I only had 3 beds, and have since added 2 new beds that haven't been treated.

I use a hose end sprayer. They provide excellent illustrated instructions on their web page on how to apply them.  Visit this page on their site, and click on the Application Instructions link.

I have well water, so chlorine is not a problem for me.  You can, though use a chlorine filter on the hose ahead of the sprayer.

Elaine ingham taught me to add humid acid to the water and it instantly lock up chlorine and chloramines making them inert.
Thanks, just wondering how you were doing it and the results you getting in the beds.

Post  OhioGardener Wed 24 May 2023 - 18:18

This evening I applied 12 million SF & Hb Beneficial Nematodes to the raised beds. In a week I'll apply another 12 million of them. The blend of these two types of beneficial nematodes will control most of the common pests, including onion maggots, carrot fly larva, grubs, root knot nematodes, cutworms, cucumber beetle larva, squash vine borer larva, leaf miners, etc.
