I've been planting potatoes in SFG for two years. It worked well enought the first year so we decided to plant a lot more the next year. We stored our potatoes and had some small ones we kept for seed. Of course the weather has interfered with our ability to get into the garden until now. My seed potatoes have sprouted to about 1' long. Can they still be planted? Was planning on sticking them in the ground anyway but was wondering if anyone had experience with this??

I think they will be just fine! I saw a thread not too long ago with seed potatoes sprouted several feet long Shocked and I think they were still going to plant them!

I would plant them. They may not be in an exact grid pattern, but I would definitely use them. Here is the link I think Cheyanne was thinking of: https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t14598-can-we-still-plant-these-lol-seed-potatoes#150386

Introduce the spuds to a window perhaps sat in a paper mache egg fitting tray , one that gets just light rather than sun for a week , so that the potato starts to turn brown/greenish and then plant them .. the bio change from dormant to active growth will be well stimulated and the spuds should grow very well .
What has happend is what is known as " chitting your potatoes " .
