I imagine if you used a regular cardboard box over time they would eat it and turn it into compost also. Don't they like cardboard? Very Happy

Remember the cardboard shoebox is simply a temporary holding place for the table scraps till you collect the number of worms you want for your beds or worm tube.

Put the holes on the sides of the box. If you put holes on the bottom then some worms will come to the buffet then leave to return to their burrows. So put holes on the side to encourage them to go inside and hang out with the food. Believe me they will! Bury the shoebox deep enough so the lid is somewhat even with the soil surface. May want to put a piece of wood or a rock across the lid if you want to discourage animals from digging around in it. Check the contents, moist is really good. Old bread, veggies and fruit is good too. Greasy, fatty stuff would not be good, too stinky and it draw animals you don't want. Don't overthink this! Box in the ground with scraps and they will come.

yolos, sorry I didn't specify burying the box right from the start. I expect people to know my intended thoughts lol!

jazzy I bet worms will fast-slide straight to the bokashi since fermented rotting stuff is just what they feast on. yahoo
