I'm in Central Jersey and getting ready!!! My best from last year were my bush beans, (they just gave and gave) and all my tomatoes and my cantaloupe were so sweet and so good! This year I'm adding eggplant, purple bush beans! black cherry tomatoes!!! and different kinds of lettuce.
Last year the cantaloupe took over everything so this year I'm going to do them in seperate planters because they just grew out of control.
Ordered my mels mix components today and just trying to decide when to do my seedlings for Central Jersey. I'm thinking mid March because the end frost estimate is for April 1st. Anybody in Jersey thinking the same??
Starting to get very excited though!!! So much fun to plan and get things ready. Good luck everybody!!

Hey irish

While I don't live in Jersey I think you last frost April 1 sound a little suspect as in western PA it is May 5. But you could be correct but them you tomatoes should have either been started indoors by now of do you get transplants?

Irish, I believe you're in the right regional forum. There should be lots of helpful information here for you to get your seeds going.
Double check the region map in this forum. Here is a sticky from your region as well with some important dates for your area:

New seeds came in!!!! Empty Better Info Planting Dates for Jersey Shore

Post  Irish3 2/28/2013, 11:06 am

Thanks Rooster for pointing out the good place for info, and Floyd, thanks for responding! I actually spent quite a while last night trying to get the best info for my area. Some places called me zone 6b but others call me 7 and I now think 7 is correct. I found this site to be the most helpful for planting inside/outside guidelines
http://veggieharvest.com/calendars/zone-7.html
So I'm going to start my carrots outside around March 10 and start my hot weather stuff..tomato/eggplant / peppers inside April 1 and then transplant them outside closer to June 1.
I really like to have everything planned so I don't feel like I' mforgetting anything, and half the fun is the prepping!!!
So, I feel good today about my info and my dates.
Thanks again guys!!!
