My chickens are all clustered around the fan I put in their outside run. They wouldn't even go back to the coop to roost last night.
Re: It's so hot that...
...several times a day it is baffling to see llamas get up and walk away from their individual barn fans to lay outside in sunny stifling 95-99 degree heat -- with their faces turned straight up to the sun. Looks like the whole herd croaked. At times we open the back door and yell, they look at us like yeah? what? (yup, good, still alive) Twenty minutes later its back inside to the barn fans.

back at you! It's already in the feed. I don't know what the natural sunbathing/additional D does for them. Be funny if they could store the extra heat for winter's use though..

Re: It's so hot that...
Too funny all of you! Before today I agree will all of you! I am going to gloat for a few hours. IT IS RAINING (woo hoo) and is 68 degrees, at least for now. It will get up to 85 degrees later today. Still won't be too hot though. It will be back up to 95-97 this weekend. So many places are in severe drought. I hope they will be able to get some of this rain or any rain soon!

..one of the barncats allowed me to soak her body with water while she stretched out on the grass in the shade. The other barn cat wanted no part of it.

Oh I'm sorry if I sounded rude when I said I would gloat for a few hours because we got rain! I started thinking about it a few hours later and thought that was quite rude of me and couldn't remember which post I might have said it on! If I offended anyone, I'm sorry. Great posts, we need the humor!

It was 90 before noon and projected to be 100+ today and tomorrow. I am so thankful for power when a week after the derecho storm there are still those here without!

Re: It's so hot that...
Ok, it's so hot my glasses are actually getting steamed up as I type this... It is cloudy and I just mowed the lawn HOWEVER, the temp is only 75F BUT, the humidity is 75% and the dew point is 67*. Bleck! I'm glad the sun is not out.
