I have small, 1/8 or maybe 1/4 inch , bugs that remind me of gnats. Twisted Evil they are swarming my turnip leaves, lettuce leaves , and spinach and arugula both of which have bolted already so I'm not too worried about them. I used dish soap in a sprayer and they have left the lettuce leaves but not the turnips. Any idea what they are? I've tried googling but to no avail. The soap seems to work but I'd still like to know what they are Thanks!

There are swarms of the little buggers (no pun intended--ok I'll be honest, pun IS intended). They crawl on me and I wipe them off, they like weeds as well as garden plants. There are tiny little grasshoppers ( the reason i haven't gardened in years--next year I am getting chickens) on the plants as well--I am hoping they are eating the gnat things.

Also, as you can see from the photo, the plants wilt, curl, and dry up.

Oh dear..... are they flying or jumping? If jumping maybe flea beetles? It almost looks like you have more than one thing going on there...

AnnaM-
Every morning as I head outside to the garden I spray OFF! on my clothes and garden sneakers. Or else there are too many little gnat-like things that want to fly around my head or sit on my already itchy poison ivy arms or deal with the mosquitos that haven't gone to wherever they are suppose to go in the daytime. I declare that Fall gardening is the crowning joy of veggie gardening, almost no bugs Very Happy
