So I planted 3 gurney lil'big apple trees this year and 2 home depot specials... The Home Depot ones are Cortland and Honeycrisp dwarf, and the Gurney's ones are Liberty, Pixie Crunch, and GoldRush... Here are some updated pictures, they have been in the ground for a month, and I think these are fruit blooms already...

I'm not sure, anyone know when to pinch off flowers the first year?

Phil,

They look great! I am green with envy - the L'il Big ones were on my fall list, but were pushed to next fall. Thanks for the pictures, and keep us posted with how they do! How often are you watering them?

I don't know when to pinch off flowers; I will be interested to see if anyone with experience has an answer for you.

I water once a week with 1-2 gallons of water per tree... Likely I will continue over the summer, but I live on a lake and my soil is always on the moist side.

Yeah I will keep posting as they grow this year. I have 3 lil'big and 2 dwarf. The dwarf are my practice trees for prunning and fruiting.

First blossoms bloomed yesterday... Now I've read that they should be pulled off on 1 and 2nd year trees, but I also read that most won't become fruit anyway so they can stay on the tree... Any input??

I never pulled them off. Never heard I should. I doubt it makes much difference they are a lot bigger than a strawberry plant.
