Re: I never picked cotton...
I'm bumping this old thread of growing cotton in a SFG. Josh was an amazing member and he was so young. It seemed like he liked to try and do so many different things.
Grow Cotton in Ohio? Why yes of course !
For anyone interested, Yes, you can certainly grow cotton in Ohio with our lovely hot summers here ! For simple entertainment, I grew some a few years ago as an experiment with seeds I received from Josh. Wish Josh would stop by and say Hello and tell us what he has been up to.

My mistake. I ordered Red Hull cotton seeds, not Khaki, and they have arrived. They are in small clusters of cotton. Do I have to remove most of the cotton?

Considering Josh's youtube was active less than a month ago, someone could drop him a line and ask him. Though from the looks of things I'd say music and animals.

Swamp troll, josh has not visited the Forum for a long time. The young man is probably out in the world continuing his quest for never ending learning.
Re: I never picked cotton...
I asked hubby about the cotton. (His family grew it way back in the day.) He didn't know either...
I'd say, yes, remove most of the cotton.

What will you do with the cotton balls? I saw a pretty wreath made with the picked cotton. Do you have a craft in mind or will you spin it?

I have no idea! I should have some primitive carding paddles in storage. We sold the antique spinning wheel my folks had.
