Starting my first SFG this Fall 2011
I was at the library when I came across this SFG book that sounded interesting. I couldn't wait to get home to start reading it. I read the whole book in one nigh! I was amazed at what I was reading! Could it truly be this easy to have a vegetable garden? Needless to say my hubsand is a little scepticle about it. That is until he talked to one of his bosses about it and his wife does it, He came home and said " Well, I know that your SFG will work, b/c his bosses wife does SFG"
I just finished building and filling my boxes. For right now I have 4 boxes that are 8'x4'. Plan to add more in the spring. It is so hot here in TEXAS and with the drought, I am eager to plant!!! I look forward to learning many things from everyone here.

Re: Starting my first SFG this Fall 2011
Welcome Julie,
I am so glad you found us. I'm also glad to see you are from my region the coastal and tropical south. It has been a very dry year here for us, just another reason SFG is such a great method since it uses much less water than a row garden.
You have completed the hardest part so now let the fun begin:cheers: . Please share your plans for your fall garden and pics if you can. Your garden is already much bigger than mine, but like my crops my garden is growing. I can't wait to hear how your doing.

mom2julie - Well, you've already done several things very right - you went to the library! I work in a library, so highly recommend them!
You've decided to sfg - also on my highly recommended list!
And wow, you don't fool around once you commit to an idea, huh? Starting with 4 8X4 boxes, wow! I started with just 2 4X4s and it wasn't long before I wanted more. I'm adding 3 more 4X4s in a week or so.
Welcome! I'm in the Coastal & Tropical South region, too, along with Shannon1, our regional host. Hope to see you around the forum!!!
