Gophers! grrrrrrr.....
Gophers! grrrrrrr.....
We've been waging a war against these small critters for several days now, in my daughter's yard in Mountain View and I really think we might be winning...but, shhhhhh, not too loud, don't want them to try for more revenge! Take a look here https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t7903-mountain-view-ca
to see what we've been doing. Here is a pic of what NOT to do...these just didn't work. Darned little guys were mocking us, pushing up dirt only feet away from our feet! One of them kept his head above the ground, looked at us and I swear he thumbed his nose at us! Cute little nose, but unfortunately it's attached to a really bad little guy!!
See that charcoal looking stuff above the middle yellow pack, and just below the leg of the sawhorse? That's a spent flare thing, same as in those used up packages. And see that black pointy thing with the yellow square on top?? That's supposed to send out the irritating sound, yeah, it just irritated me...the gophers had burrows all around it!! Hey, ya think they were trying to push it up out of the ground??? OMG, I sure hope they're NOT that smart!!
I'm sure some of the rest of you are having similar, although hopefully not as severe, issues with gophers. Yes, we put wire mesh on the bottom of the boxes before we planted...half inch square so even the little guys can't get through it! If you have a great suggestion, PLEASE share it!
