Just found cheap peat pots
Just found some small seed starting peat pots at the amazing 99 cent store! there were 24 in a pack and they are maybe 2x3 or 2x2. Either way they would be great for starting seeds in! Just thought I would share!
This was the one in Glendale on 67th ave just south of the 101.

Re: Just found cheap peat pots
great find! too bad i don't live in AZ. I must confess, i just save all my individual serving yogurt containers (they're 6 oz or thereabouts) and poke a few holes in the bottom and seed start that way. they're the same size as the plants i used to purchase from the local garden center and somehow it's just more fun to seed start your own.. it's a great hobby that the whole family enjoys!
we seed started for the first time last year as a homeschool activity and we're hooked.

Yogurt containers
So glad you posted, Happyfrog. I've started saving my yogurt containers to use for seed starting.
Do I need to bleach them or is running them through the dishwasher enough to make them seed-ready?

Re: Just found cheap peat pots
i would think just washing is fine. that's all i do. i don't use bleach in our house (only white distilled vinegar for sanitizing) and we don't own a dishwasher.
happy seed starting!
in another couple of weeks, i'll be curling up on the sofa with my huge pile of garden catalogs and start making lists and dreaming of what to plant in the fall. . .
