Months in the making---first pictures

It has been a lot of work converting part of my row gardens to raised beds this spring. I used the composite beds from Sam's Club, and because it was getting late I didn't use grids this year (not true 4x4) but did the plant spacing according to the book. I still have work to do as you can tell by all the weeds outside the boxes. Just glad to be finished with the main garden. The hardest part for me was the spacing and leveling of the boxes. It is a curved garden and it is on a slope both front to back and from one side to the other. I built two potato towers this year and the cattle panel trellis. I started half my corn inside this year since it is a super sweet variety that needs hot weather to germinate and will give me a few weeks inbetween harvests. Wow MJ - what a great-looking space!
what are you going to plant to grow up and over the cattle panels? That is so cool.....i wish we was in the country so I could do that too. Country gardens are so much prettier - sorry city folk.

Thank You! It is nice to finally seeing it at this point. I was starting to get discouaraged with how long it was taking to do the beds. The trellis has kentucky wonder beans on the first and last panel and cucumber on the middle trellis. I decided on the kentucky wonder based on another cattle panel trellis photo online that was filled completely with the Kentucky Wonder beans. I sure hope they taste good, LOL! We are fortunate we are in a neighborhood yet with a little acreage.

Your gardens look great! I can't wait to see the beans and cucumbers growing on the trellis. All your hard work getting started will soon pay off when you start getting your harvest! Keep us up to date as everything grows!

Don't worry about the grids. I used venetian blind slats and found that after the crops are in, they aren't needed anymore so I removed them. No slats or twine or wires in the way when watering, side dressing, mulching or whatever.
Your first garden looks great.
