Very Happy Hi fellow sfg gardeners.
I have been away from the site for 12 months as we were living in tempory accomodation while we built a new house.
Moved in 10 weeks ago and I have already set up 6 4x4 boxes.
There are 21 different varieties of veg's planted and I am already harvesting lettuce, spinach, zuccini, raddish and silver beet.
It is the middle of spring here in southern Australia.
I am really looking forward to catching up with what is happening on the forum.
Will post some pictures of my garden shortly.
Cheers

Welcome back my prodigal son ,
It's getting decidely cool and brassy here in the UK. Not much chance of sowing anything other than broad beans , garlic & over wintering onions .
Might be able to plant out some more collards that were sown in the heated bed in the glasshouse 20 days ago .

Hurricane Sandy seems to have turned right and brought wet sleet with her.

happy hi hi Ray, nice to see another Aussie in here!

Wow, you must have worked fast to be getting harvests already, my garden is just getting going but I've got lots of lettuce and carrots so far and one of the toms is starting to form flowers so that's exciting for a first timer.

Very Happy Thanks fo the welcome back plantoid and ericam.
I have been doing sfg for about 6 years and really missed my garden the last 12 months.
Because it was spring my priority was to get the veg's planted.
I bought ready made 4x4 boxes from Bunnings after costing the timber with the intention of making my own. It was cheaper and saved a lot of work. Also much quicker. I put one box on top of another so they are about waist height, so not much bending. Doubled the cost but worth it as I get older. Also recently retired so have much more time now for the garden (in between fishing).
We live next to the Gippsland Lakes which is 70 miles of inland lakes and water ways that open into the ocean at Lakes Entrance. Salt water with plenty of fish.
My new garden is fantastic and much better than the old one as I learnt so much over 5 years.
My wife thinks I am silly but I have been keeping a record of what I harvest from each variety so that I have some idea what the garden produces. Lots of people over the years have questioned "is a garden worth the effort and cost ?" So far in 10 weeks I am already up to $98 worth of veg's. It is going to be interesting.
The great thing down here, compared to USA, is we can grow crops all year round and usually have at least 3-4 different things in each square for the year, so highly productive. We don't even get frosts near the coast.
Very interested to hear what you are doing with your garden in Sydney ericam.
Cheers

Not having done this for over a year this is an experiment to see if I have it right. If it works I will post some more.

This always trips me up, I can never remember which codes to use for posting pics but I've got it sorted these days.

The IMG code is the one you want.

Can't wait to see them once you've got it figured out! Wink

Welcome back.
It sure will be nice to see some spring and summer gardens from Downunder while we in the northern states of the USA are buried under blankets of winter snow.
Hope you figure out how to post pics soon.
