My first bed is built at 8' x 4' x 8" deep. I have 2"x8" cross members supporting the weight using hardware cloth to spread the weight and that is topped with burlap to keep the soil in. I am working now on filling the bed with Mel's mix (had to use 1 bag of fine vermiculite because that is all I could find so far). I've got enough wood to do at least one more of these beds and I'm hoping for a 2'x8' box as well, but I might need to buy few more boards for that one.
I used pressure treated for the legs since it was not in contact with the growing soil, but decided to use yellow pine for the actual growing box. I know it will be useless in 3-5 years, but it's all I could find around here. No cedar ANYWHERE that wasn't a fortune. I can replace the box on this twice and still cost less than cedar boards right now. Crazy!
This elevated bed is full waist height so my elderly mother-in-law can reach it just fine when she feels like getting exercise in the garden. My 2nd will be lower to accommodate taller plants, because this guy is going to take a stab at growing corn! The 2'x8' is going to be more in the shade so I can get a nice greens box going, although I've not had the best luck in FL growing greens due to the heat. Hopefully having it more in the shade might help a little. But hey, at least I'll learn something.

That's thoughtful of you.
Will this growing information help? https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/plants/plant-of-the-month/infographics.html?fbclid=IwAR1BfDQO_yMbH0BshQoGEhRnTVhmuCgf1sAMGiElRtLqa8uAww6ZBr0uSaY#!/-1/My 2nd will be lower to accommodate taller plants, because this guy is going to take a stab at growing corn!
