Hi from Nelson, New Zealand.
I live in Nelson at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. We get frosty winters and hot summers. Spring is pretty wet and windy and unpredictable. This is my first season square foot gardening. I have converted two of my four raised garden boxes with Mel's Mix. The grids in each box are 5 x 10 foot. I'm growing a good variety of vegetables but plenty of tomatoes and capsicums. I also have onions (red and brown), spring onions, cucumbers, pak choi, rocket, spinach, various lettuces and companion plants. The old boxes (not sfg) have food for the guinea pigs and chooks, zucchini, corn, pumpkin and rock melon. I also have used Mel's Mix in containers which have blackberry, boysenberry, raspberry and more tomatoes and capsicums. I'm pretty excited to see how the season goes as a lot of what I'm growing is for the first time. I've been picking salad greens for a few weeks now.

Hi NZSFG, Welcome to the Forum.
We love photos, so please share if you want. While some of us in the Northern Hemisphere are snowed in, it's nice to see "summer" garden photos from the Southern Hemisphere.

So glad to hear you are well on your way, can’t wait until we can see some pics! This morning, it’s 21*F here (like -6*C). Cold!

Re: Hi from Nelson, New Zealand.
Welcome, Nelson! Sounds like you already know about gardening.
I am in Alabama (southeast USA). Hot humid Summers, Summer growing season April to October. Right now we have some lettuce, kale, broccoli and cabbage out there. Not sure if the brussel sprouts made it.

Hi all, just trying to work out this forum and how to use it. First time on a forum. I'll try and add a photo... I think it's worked. Might have to take them on a lower setting though.

Re: Hi from Nelson, New Zealand.
I had nasturtiums in with the tomatoes but they were taking over so I've just pulled them out.
