Re: How to get rid of crabgrass
Since Crabgrass is an annual that dies every winter, and starts next spring from the seeds that were produced this year, the easiest way to control it is to smother the seeds with corn gluten. Corn Gluten is a pre-emergence control of Crabgrass and other seed-generated weeds.

Re: How to get rid of crabgrass
Interesting article. Looks like I would need about 2 - 3 pounds based upon what they wrote. Seems like an easy solution - thanks.OhioGardener wrote:Since Crabgrass is an annual that dies every winter, and starts next spring from the seeds that were produced this year, the easiest way to control it is to smother the seeds with corn gluten. Re: How to get rid of crabgrass
I'm considering using corn gluten meal as a pre-emergent.
I, oh so carefully, used the plain blue and green Roundup 2 years ago on a small lawn infested with Bermuda grass. There had to be zero wind when applied. I watched the weather forecasts, observed the fruit tree labels for movement, and extinguished a match a ground level to watch for smoke drift. I was willing to erect a plastic sheet fence around the area if needed. That's how desperate I was.
Reseeding can be done 3-7 days after application.
