Another newbie from Australia!
Hi everyone! The name I am known by my grandchildren is 'Tassie'. I live in Sydney, Australia. Started my SFG last year and had some success with kale, capsicum, lettuce, flowers for the bees, and tomatoes. Failed with peas, carrots, eggplant and onions. My question is, what can I plant now in place of the kale and tomatoes? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Tassie, Welcome to the Forum from California, U.S.! Do you have a local gardening society or agriculture department that could help you with what varieties grow best, when to plant, and if you need cold protection at the beginning and end of the growing cycle? You are ending summer and maybe you can start some cool weather crops such as kale, the cabbage family, peas, Swiss Chard, carrots for eating next spring, garlic for harvesting in January (plant in April). Find out if you are in short day, medium day or long day latitude. That will help determine types of potatoes, onions and garlic to plant.
Keep us updated on what you find out. It will help other Aussies. Post photos - we love photos.

Hi Tassie. Welcome from the SE USA!
Sanderson has some good ideas! Here we have an organization called the Extension Service. They run our Master Gardener programs & have all sorts of good advice... Do you have anything like that?
