Re: California - What are you doing this month?
DUH! This is the thread I was looking for -- not the one I've been posting in.
Our weather has been-and-is-forecast-to-be so nice I'm enjoying a 2nd summer season, overlapping with an early fall and winter planting. 2019 is making up for a disastrous 2018.
Tomatoes took a short break, but now coming back nicely. The cherries are leading the parade as usual, but the 4th of July should be ripening, soon.
YIKES! I forgot to plant the peas. I'll do that, tomorrow.
Planted radishes and carrots.
I have starts for zucchini, cukes, & pattypans. It will be interesting to see if there's enough time left to bring them in.
About to start artichokes from seed to plant out before winter. The one in the container, that came back after being cut back, is now dying again. It can't make up its mind whether to live or die.

Fruit radishes and Daikons are up. I still haven't started the peas, but I may get to it, today. Weather is cooling down, nicely.countrynaturals wrote: Tomatoes took a short break, but now coming back nicely. Going to HD to buy starts. With replacing the kitchen sink, prepping readi-meals and new tile in the kitchen, there wasn't time to start seeds. I will direct sow the peas and radishes, though.
Oh, and buying end of season composts so I have enough to start planting next spring.

Re: California - What are you doing this month?
Just finished planting seeds for artichokes, kohlrabi, round tropea onions, and stevia. I hope I never have to mess with stevia seeds again! When I get to rule the universe, I'll make all seeds like artichokes. They're the perfect size.
Re: California - What are you doing this month?
CN, How big are artichoke seeds?
After 13 days working on and cleaning the kitchen, I finally got something done in the garden. I cleaned the 2'x8' TT, mixed in more compost and planted the Bonnie curly kale, broccolini, and Bright Lights Swiss chard. I will also sow toy choys and French Breakfast radishes tomorrow and cover with bridal tulle. Hopefully I can get the 3.5'x3.5' salad bed cleaned and planted with the Bonnie lettuce starts and sow carrots and more radishes.
