Garden Pics - Kansas
It's been up and down spring in terms of weather...frost warnings last week and 85 this week...cold rain then hot dry winds. Some things are doing well and some not so well.
Bok Choy, Tatsoi, and spinach bolted early. Heavy rain then hot dry winds wreaked havoc on lettuce seedlings.
Here are some pics from both my home and community gardens.
Box 1: sugar snap peas, napa cabbage, green beans (seeded).
Box 2: sugar snap peas, detroit red beets.
Box 3: sugar snap peas, carrots (typical squirrel protection).
Sugar snap peas with small cage in cattle mineral tub...peppers in grow bags.
Box 4: sugar snap peas, beets, lettuce, garlic, onions, radish. (ground squirrel trap)
Box 5: sugar snap peas, carrots.
Box 6: sugar snap peas, seeded innoculated green beans this evening.
Box 7: sugar snap peas, lettuce, onions.
Lettuce bed - 10 types of bibb and butter type.
Community Garden: Patty's Choice lettuce.
Community Garden: onions and shallots.
Community Garden: beets.
Comunity Garden: green cabbage.
Community Garden: green cabbage.
Community Garden: my plot - so far 16 Health Kick tomatoes in, about 45 LF of sugar snap peas (trellis), and cucumbers. Heirloom tomatoes, beans, and peppers to be planted soon.

You have a lot going on there. I did notice that you are partial to sugar snap peas as they are in almost every picture/box.

yolos...yes we love sugar snap peas...kids and wife eat them right in the garden. here's what i've started to do with sugar snap peas over the last few years...get them started indoors really early, transplant at the base of every trellis i have, and the peas start to wind down about the time cukes and tomatoes take over. it's just a way to take advantage of that square footage near a trellis in the spring.

Love getting to see what's going on in your garden, landarch... and here I am, wondering what you do to keep the cabbage moths off your cole crops?

Re: Garden Pics - Kansas
Kate, I saw cabbage loopers a couple months ago...but none lately. Typically I use BT, however have limited luck.
I decided to skip broccoli and cauliflower this year and stick with green and napa cabbage...slugs seem to be more of a problem this year.
