Every year several congress & senate members say they are going to do that, and every year they do nothing to change it.

Even Trump has stated that he'd like to end this absurd practice, and I know that there's a great deal of support to do just that.
However, I believe it would have to be agreed to by all states, which could be a difficult task.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
I believe this is a state issue and not a federal issue. I remember when I was small and kept moving between Virginia and Florida. One state changed the time and the other state did not. We already have different time zones so it would not be too much worse to have different times in each state.donnainzone5 wrote:Even Trump has stated that he'd like to end this absurd practice, and I know that there's a great deal of support to do just that.

Actually, it is a federal law, first passed in 1966 and revised several times since then. One senator suggested making it optional for states, and was quickly reminded that it already is.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
I think it gives the illusion of having some power over time which is a good thing after learning nobody lives forever. Where is Ron Popeil when you need him, just Set It and Forget It. Pick one because for a 3 week period around the time changes there are more traffic fatalities. I don't care which one, as a child I had to be home before dark and even then I was always late. On my grandfathers' farms, you worked until dark. Don't even need a watch to tell when it is dark but harder to get home at dark with a New Moon but I would just put my hand in front of my face and keep walking into it so I didn't get lost.

I hate the winter time reset (that is regular time). Daylight savings time means summer is coming to me. I like the darker mornings and lighter evenings. I like having more of the day light hours after work and school. I am very glad we are back to daylight savings time.
I think bigdogrock agrees with me. We are now springing forward into Daylight savings time. In fact I suspect you are all agreeing with me and it is the time shift into winter (regular time) that you dislike.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
Basically I am an early riser so I do not like the clock going forward in the Spring especially as I have to get my garbage at the curbside by 7:00am and now it is still dark at that time. But as usual I will get over it as the daylight hours increase and it is light at both ends of my day.
