Daylight Savings Time
It is that time again for the "Spring forward and fall back" time changing event, don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight.

Yeah, the jetlag affect is killer! I turned mine back last night. Need all the help I can get! I'm allergic to DST.

Haha...me too... even though I'm trying hard not to do that.
On a side note, I'm feeling like I got hit by a truck today, and somebody scrambled my brains.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
What worries me is that Wednesday is our garbage collection day and we have to have our bins out between 5am earliest and 7am latest. I will have a problem waking up at the right time.
A couple of weeks ago I managed to get it out as the truck was approaching my driveway. A couple of times I missed it, and several times I have woken up far too early and stayed up until 5am then returned to bed and then slept too late and felt out of sorts for the rest of the day.
For twenty years I was spoiled as our collection day and time was Friday 12 noon which I easily managed winter and summer.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
I solve the trash-day problem by rolling out the bins the previous evening.

Re: Daylight Savings Time
I love Daylight savings time and seriously wish that 'standard time would be done away with. It is the switching that bothers me. I love DST in the winter because there is daylight after school and work. Standard time in the winter means sunrise as I leave in the morning and sunset before I get home. Bleh. The one time they did DST in the winter I was in grade school and we were in heaven because we had an hour of daylight play time after school. The stars were out when we went to school in the morning but that was only one side of the day in the dark.

We have a bylaw with a $50 fine if we get caught. Also the garbage bins are fastened with clips and we would still have to get up early in the morning to un-clip them, otherwise the garbage trucks could not unload them. It is all done while the driver sits in his cab. After the first few weeks of the new way of doing things, the driver was within his rights to just leave the garbage can un-emptied.
The can itself has to face the road; make sure it is not too far back from the road, make sure there is nothing on either side of it or overhanging it.
A couple of weeks ago snow had blown on top of my garbage can and it could not be opened and I did not have time to unfreeze it with warm water and dry it before became re-frozen.
The joys of progress.

Spring Forward
"In short, the soil food web feeds everything you eat and helps keep your favorite planet from getting too hot. Be nice to it." ~ Diane Miessler, "Grow Your Soil"
Re: Daylight Savings Time
Last year, I tried keeping my sleep schedule on standard time. So when it was time to "fall back", I just left my bedside alarm clock on standard time. Of course, all my other clocks fell back, so my work hours went to daylight savings time, along with mealtimes, etc., but my sleep schedule stayed the same. Then, when it was time to "spring forward", there was nothing to it! That worked so well, I decided to just keep doing it.
IMO, daylight savings time is evil.

A bit late answering, but we are not allowed to put out our trash or recycling until five in the morning ready for 7Am collection at the earliest. Partly due to Bear problem.
the funny thing is, my own bin is way up my driveway near my house, other people do not have a drive so the only place the garbage can be is right where the bin is emptied.
Mind you, the bins are locked, and what they mean is that one cannot unlock them until 5am. If one forgets to unlock them by 7am, then they cannot be lifted up on the arms of the garbage wagon and the driver will not get out of his cab to unlock the bin. the bin will be lifted up and replace, if locked the garbage is still there.

Me, too, I don't know why it's so hard to change that law. I don't know of any person or politician who thinks there is anything beneficial to daylight savings time.bigdogrock wrote:I wish they would just "Spring forward" and leave it there...
