Same here in spades. Warm sunshine and a gentle breeze much preferred.
I am a "No" person, when it come to walking. gardening etc. No cold, no heat, no wind, no rain.

TD, your Mom will always be in your heart. Hugs.
Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
God's comfort to you, family and her friends. When will you be officiating her service? I'm so glad you were able to be with her through these last few days.
Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
The service is on Tuesday morning. I just finished putting together the eulogy and will now start on the Bible message. I'm thankful for friends from the church in St.Catharines who are helping out.sanderson wrote: God's comfort to you, family and her friends. When will you be officiating her service? On a happier note, the distraction of onion and leek seedlings that I brought with me are doing well in Mom's living room window. It's doubtful that I will be able to do any more indoor seeding since all my seeds, containers, lights, etc. are 550 kilomtres from here.

I spent all day yesterday transplanting tomato plants. 580, in all. Have kept them inside for one day to let them settle into their new pots

Inside as opposed to where? Do you have a greenhouse? I can't remember...

TD, I am so sorry about your mother. I'm glad you are getting support from the church when it's needed most.
Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
580 Tomato plants, GWN? Well done, you make me feel like a layabout. I take it most of them will be for sale or will they be transplanted in your garden?
Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
I have gradually increased my farmers market over the past 3 years. This year we have a spot at the Salmon Arm farmers market for April and May, so I figured .... heres a chance to go HOG WILD
Yes I have a small greenhouse, and a hoop house. Cannot really use the hoop house for awhile, because it is harder to heat. I have a space heater for the greenhouse I am not at all sure if all these will fit in my greenhouse though. I will put them out there tomorrow.. and hope for the best.

GWN we have friends in Salmon Arm BC. Last year, after the Calgary Stampede, we drove from Calgary to Salmon Arm to visit with them. Amazing drive through the mountains to get there and Salmon Arm is beautiful.GWN wrote:I have gradually increased my farmers market over the past 3 years. TD, you and your family were in my thoughts and prayers today.
Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
Yesterday was a beautiful day so I spent another hour in the garden sorting put the compost, and the doing a little bore clearing of my car port.
Sun again today, but there was a cold wind so only spent a few minutes outside. Tomorrow and the following day more rain each day with no more hint of sunshine.
Will spend time sorting out paperwork etc.

Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
I put a reminder in my calendar to start my seedlings this past weekend, but it just didn't happen. Yikes. I'm afraid that I'll be way behind now with my tomatoes and my sin unless I squeeze them in during the week somehow. Any one else falling behind on planting seedlings?

Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
Me! But my excuse is that it's my first year, and I don't have my MM put together yet.
I do have some progress in that there is now coarse vermiculite in my garage, and my dad has routered corner posts so that I can slide 2x8's into them and toe nail them together (well, screws, if you want to be picky). And he got super fancy and made some posts extra tall, so that I can have a section 10" deep for some carrots. I just need to go and buy the boards. Oh, and a bonus! The vermiculite arrived in giant boxes, so I can use these to line the bottom of my boxes.
I have some seeds (brussels sprouts, carrots, snap peas, kale, cilantro, cucamelons) and the rest I'll buy at the greenhouse to transplant.
This week I need to drive down to the mushroom farm and grab some compost. That'll be source #1.

Re: CANADIAN REGION: What are you doing in March 2017
Yes Thank you it IS beautiful. WE do not actually live there, we live about 45 mins away from Salmon arm, on the north side of the Shuswap lake. So technically across the lake from Salmon arm, but it is a LARGE and oddly shaped lake. I hope you are doing well, with all the funeral going on. My mothers was on Feb 11th. My husband and I played a song that I had written that was relevant. It was quite wonderful to play an important part in the ceremony, made me feel "involved" I am sure you will be happy with your involvement, I know I was.GWN we have friends in Salmon Arm BC. If your friends want Heirloom tomatoes, send them to the market
