Early this moring I picked Kale, Leaf Lettuce, Spinach, and Spring Onions. About half of it will be shared with an elderly lady neighbor who doesn't garden.

We've been getting an occasional sugar snap pea to snack on, harvested some lettuce, and that's about it. The mustard greens are done. The basil looks great, but haven't used any yet. Bush beans just starting to bud. Kale almost ready. Some green cherry tomatoes showing up. No luck with carrots or onions or pole beans.

My garden planner for zone 6 has had a few weeks off of planting things. Has anyone started "fall" planting yet? It says I can start broccoli greens and beans again.

Simple salad stuff .. inch diameter ball radish , curly mini lettuce leaves , baby beetroot leaves , a bit of cut & come again salad mix greenery a tiny bit of fennel fern & stem .
Nearly had some mange tout too , but I said, " No they are only 3/4 of an inch long " .

I picked one solitary flat peapod ( Mange tout ..... eat all ) to see if the flatties are still soft & juicy to have in salads ... Yep they're OK for tomorrows date with the table .
Our onions are starting to get some decent looking bulbs on them , might risk the biggest .... finely sliced in rings and all of the greenery finally chopped for salad & home made chicken soup .

Harvested Carrots, Bunching Onions, Black Seeded Simpson and Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, Swiss Chard and Dinosaur Kale. Had the most delicious chicken salad and sauteed chard for dinner.

I need to pull some chard and make a nice sautée with some scapes—so lovely. All your food sounds amazing! I made a nice salad yesterday with lettuces and sugar snaps from the garden. They are getting close to being done.

Growing up I always heard it said about corn, "Knee high by the fourth of July."

Well, this isn't near knee-high. I'd guess only 8 inches ...

SR, I too had my garlic in the garage with a fan. My husband was so startled when he opened the door thinking, is our garage-retired senior barn cat terribly ill with something and stinking up the garage? Did she die? Then he saw it.
Gina's garlic. The fumes were very strong and it was all moved to the basement. Smile

OMG, that’s funny, LM! Yes, it is quite aromatic in there...how long did you cure it?

It's only curing now for 3 days. It'll take a couple weeks if I recall correctly. I'll test it by cutting about a 1/2 inch above the bulb. If it's dry then it's done and I can trim it up and put away.

The first Summer Squash for this year. They grow so fast! It was 6.5" long. Sliced it on top of the Chef Salad for lunch, and it was delicious! Very Happy
