Yes, it is possible Last winter I used some 4 litre (about 1 gallon) clear containers, cut them in half leaving a one inch hinge, put in some soil and flower seeds, then taped them up. I punched some holes in the upper portion, left them outside and forgot about them until spring.
I had quite a few little plants in the spring so I am trying it again this year.

Marie, I cannot think of the name right now, except they were annuals. A bit like how I remember cars, they were a reddish colour. Short. One flower on a single stork. I would recognize it if I saw a picture. I have looked through my stash of flower seeds, but think I may have saved them from someone's garden.
I have a habit of saving seeds from random plants, putting them in plastic bags and forgetting to label them.

Sounds like me! I was going thru my seed stash a few moments ago. Took me about a half hour to remember the strange, hard, little seeds I had were from some prickly pear a friend brought to me... (It's labeled NOW!)

Yes, winter sowing really does work. I have been doing it for years and it gives me something garden related to do when there is snow out. The first year I tried this, I had over 100 gallon milkjugs on my driveway. A couple years later I had some beautiful flowers that had matured nicely.
