Fenway Farms Empty Fenway Farms

Post  MackerelSky 6/3/2015, 5:46 am

My Lady and I are Major League Baseball fans, I with my Angels in California and her with the Boston Red Sox, so there's almost always a game playing on the TV or the radio. There was a rain delay in one of the Red Sox games a week or so ago and I saw a small blurb about Fenway Farms.

Anyways, this morning I took the time to google it and I must say it's pretty cool. What I'm really impressed with it's simply a 'milk tote' system of ANSFG. Little fabric bags that are sewn to fit individual milk tote's, the ones used to deliver 4- 1 gallon jugs to stores.

This company's version of a Mel-Mix is then put in all of the totes and , well, you know the rest...It's quite an impressive flat roof turned into a garden that is estimated to produce about 4,000 lbs of veggies this initial year of existence and all of the food will be used 'in house'.

Here's just one link from the Boston Globe and it contains this photo below

Thought some of you might be interested in looking at it...

All the Best.

That IS interesting, Brad...  5000 Square Feet!?  That's a bunch of milk crates...  But it looks very well thought-out.

Thanks for posting it.

Did you have a good birthday?

Go Sox!

Excellent Birthday, Thanks... Fenway Farms 3170584802

It's a 5,000 sq ft roof, not quite sure how many milk totes are planted, lost count... Very Happy
