Re: Mid-Atlantic - May 2015
I used Veteran Compost for the last 3 years, and I haven't noticed any problems with it. Whatever is growing in front of your peas is doing really well, so the compost may not be to blame. With my garden, I just roll with the punches. Every year is so different in terms of sunshine, temperature, bugs, disease, etc. I look back at my harvests during the last 7 years, and they vary from a low of 18 pounds to a high of 76 pounds. Hang in there.

Remember that "problems" with the garden aren't always the Mel's Mix. Weather & seeds (might they have been handled incorrectly by the store?) can influence growth as well as inconsistent watering.
Just making sure you added the Mix correctly before planting:
2" in the raised bed then lots of water,
2" in the raised bed then lots of water,
then the final 2" in the raised bed and lots of water
Then you only have to maintain the moisture level

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
