Here are a few pics from from the SFG boxes this year...it's been a challenge with temp ranges from 85 through freezing in the last few weeks or so.  Goals are to plant more of what we like to eat, as well as try some new things.

Those are great photos of your work in progress.  I am two hours to your west.  Temperature swings here have been pretty dramatic this year, haven't they?  Your leafy greens are looking fabulous, mine aren't nearly that far along yet.  When do you usually put out your spinach and cabbage?

Looking fab Landarch!  Did I count 96 pepper cells?  I am feeling a bit wimpy at only 16!

I set out greens and cole crops 3-4 weeks ago...mostly because I was running out of grow light space for peppers and tomatoes.  I've used a frost blanket a couple times already.

I did a lot of peppers...I had almost 100% germination on some of last year's seeds...I'll find a home for them in the community garden, either in my spot or sell extras to others. If you look closely, you can see one row of eggplant.

Kate, are you near Manhattan?

Yep, we're in Manhattan.

From what I've observed so far, I realize now I could have set the lettuce, onions, and cabbage out a couple of weeks earlier than I did.  It's going to frost in May and April, so what difference does it make as long as the mix in the boxes has thawed out and you have some way to cover them when it gets below freezing at night.

I'm a KSU Wildcat, grew up in Wamego so I have friends and family all around Manhattan...I may be headed back to Alta Vista this weekend to partake in some fun this time of year (morel and turkey hunting, burning the prairie, crappie fishing, etc.).  I have friends that ranch so I bring back bags of manure (horse, cow, chicken, and rabbit) for the compost pile.

Those are some good friends, indeed. 2015 SFG in Mid West 3170584802

I also attended K-State, and now I work there as a web developer.  I've also got a few friends around here who raise horses and livestock, and they are usually more than happy to share their animal poop with their neighbors.  Before gardening, I never imagined livestock manure could be such a special thing.  Cow patties will never be the same for me, but I have yet to make a real compost pile, so for now I try to get what they have that's already broken down, or I mix it into the MM before winter to use in the spring.
