Fuzzy Bug on Eggplant Question
Was checking the eggplant this morning to see if the bees were doing their job. Found this on one of the stems. When I first saw it there was a tiny insect that was also white. It was not present when I took the picture. When I attempted to crush it it hopped away and was gone. Anyone know what this is? I have never seen this on any plants before.

Re: Fuzzy Bug on Eggplant Question
It's been very dry for a couple of weeks now so would that be one of the reasons? I will check other plants, etc. Like I said, I have never had this before so I am clueless. Will check here for ways to get rid of this. Thanks camprn.camprn wrote:mealy bugs

I'm thinking I may have whiteflies instead. I was looking at a picture of whiteflies and it resembled what I saw this morning. Will get busy tomorrow and get after them.

Re: Fuzzy Bug on Eggplant Question
Look like mealy bugs to me. Treat with a water spray to dislodge them, insecticidal soap or spinosad.

Re: Fuzzy Bug on Eggplant Question
Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and no more problem so far. Keeping an eye on it though.
