The oven is a great germinator - as long as you dont forget!
A few weeks ago i started some sweat pea seeds and more parsley and after reading someones post here I tried to use my oven with the light on as a nice warm spot for them to germinate. I had been using my fridge top for most of this season so far. Went away last weekend and after I came home I seriously forgot where they were.... for DAYS. I started to think i was crazy. I thought maybe i dreamed up starting them. I wondered where my cookie sheets had gone to. Bam. It hit me. They were in the oven! Dry as bones and nothing..... except one little parsley, dont think it will make it. Oh well it could have been worse it could have been veggies.
So, while the oven is really warm, I would recommend that you leave yourself a big note on the fridge that they are in there if you do this.

I planted some eggplant seeds and put them in the oven with the light on after reading the exact same post. I completely forgot about them too. My husband asked me a few days after I had put them in there if I had watered them. DOH!
The really sad part is that I DID put a big sign on the oven and I still forgot about them!!

You made my day
I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who would do something like that. The only difference is that I would have turned on the oven to make a cake or something and wondered what that earty smell was.

I thought of that too. It would be just like me to turn the oven on and "pre-bake" my eggplants.
The sign I put on the oven was taped over the controls, so I couldn't do that. I also taped a sign over the light switch, so my hubby wouldn't turn the light off. Even with all that signage, I still forgot they were in there.
