We are scrambling to find more garden space and considering where else we can put more sfg beds.  My grandson just built a beautiful bed 4 x 7 and it makes me greedy for more.

Proposed leach field?  As in a leach field will be laid in that area sometime in the future?  What are your Building and Land Use laws regarding this type of area?  It should be okay to set a box on top of this area if you are willing to move it when the time comes to building this leach field.  I say when and not if, because leach fields become exhausted, filled with fine solids, no longer able to accept and disperse septic tank effluent.  When I worked as a health inspector and approve water well permits, and had to view the property, it was often easy to spot the existing leach field because it was the only lush green spot in the field!!

Can I put sfg beds over a proposed leech field? Empty proposed leach field is an aerobic system

Post  kauairosina 1/23/2014, 2:34 pm

The proposed leach field is part of an aerobic system because we are too close to a water tank.

I wonder if that makes a difference.  Unfortunately, we have created our garden right over where this field should go according to current plans. We are hoping to change that as our building location plans have also changed. We are having another person give us advice and see if it differs.  The one acre lot is on a slope and our garden is at the bottom of it on one side.

Thanks for the spelling correction.

consider adding tabletops or raising the beds above the leach field using block or brick. My 10 tabletops are all sitting in the leach field area of my yard, leaving the rest available for trees and other in ground stuff. And the leach field is always full sun.  Smile
and they can be disassembled and moved if necessary.
