Watering Question Empty Watering Question

Post  bripow(MI) Sun 25 Apr 2010 - 18:50

In the SFG book Mel doesn't really give any specifics on watering other than to say you should look at the plants to determine if they need water. Is there a better rule of thumb than that?
What about with new seeds you have planted, should those get water daily?
Thanks!

Watering Question Empty Re: Watering Question

Post  Retired Member 1 Sun 25 Apr 2010 - 20:23

I water seeds and seedlings daily, and at present the transplants every two days. Come summer I'll probably need to water some things twice a day. My rule of thumb for everything except newly planted seeds is to stick my finger in the mix to see if it is damp about 2" down. If not, then I water.
