Big Lots Sale
Not sure if this is nationwide or not, but our local Big Lots has their gardening supplies 90% off! Picked up some organic fertilizer for $2.50. They had the bag marked at $25 normally, which I find HARD to believe, but at $2.50 it was worth it! They had manures, trowels, seed starting kits also.

"JOBES" ORGANIC VEGETABLE AND TOMATO GRANULES. It's supposed to have microbes and bio "something" . I've been reading up on microbes and how the soil is "living", some really interesting stuff!!

Thanks, I will be running over to Big Lots first thing tomorrow.
The last big 'close out' sale that Big Lots had on gardening stuff I stocked up on enough vermiculite and perlite to fill my shed. And the bag of bat guano I purchased made an interesting subject for after dinner conversation.

They had a 'closeout' sale because some other store got rid of their gardening merchandise. Everything was at least 1/2 off. It was not part of Big Lot's regular stock. Kind of a one-time chance in a lifetime. One thing I did learn was to never buy a bag of potting soil with the name Martha Stewart on the label. There were actually chunks of concrete in it. Like broken up sidewalk.

Wow Carmelita, chunks of concrete! I bet Ms. Stewart would be livid to hear such a thing! She is such a stickler for things being done the right way!

Don't believe the image she portrays in the media. I once had dinner with her (back in the day) and you can believe if she said "put chunks of broken concrete in the bags of potting soil" then that is exactly what would get done.

I went today, and asked for the gardening section. The clerk must have seen me coming; she said, "It's almost all gone."
There were a lot of hose nozzles, but "super sale" type discounts were all but gone. I did get three Topsy Turvy plant hangers, though. I don't like the one I've got now, but THESE ones were on sale!
For a buck-fifty, I couldn't help myself ...
