Hello...rookie here. I've read the book and have big plans.

I'm going to start with some taller beds as I'm older and lazy, and the bases I will fill with sand as suggested in the book I suppose. I live on the Oregon coast and we gets lots of rain here, starting in a month or so and continuing through the spring, and I'm wondering how all this rain will affect my soil composition. Anything special I should be thinking about?

Welcome! I look forward to reading about your progress. We have other members that live on the coast of the great PNW also. If you haven't already, you can check out the "Pacific Northwest" regional forum section on the home page.

welcome You will love SFG's! There are lots of forum members in your region who will know how to deal with your specific coastal issues. Stayed in Port Orford for a few days when I was a kid - on vacation with Dad and Sister. Especially loved the night view over the water!
