Volunteer compost squash
crazy things get no attention like the ones in the beds.. and its way ahead of the bed squashes too.

Are you positive that is a squash plant? My pumpkins and vines look exactly like your pictures.

Honestly, I don't know what they are. That's why I said squash. It covers all the bases.
Typical yellow squash I've grown is longer shaped, not rounded like those things. So maybe they are pumpkins like you say.
Those heaps did received about 4 dozen pumpkins from a Fall display, so I wouldn't be surprised. Yet the vines are not getting long like the purposely planted Atlantic Giant pumpkins I tried in vain to grow last year.
Either way I'll be happy to have freaky round squash or some nice little pumpkins.

Here are some pictures I just went out and took so you can see why I think yours may also be pumpkins. My grandsons are so excited over these monsters. First thing they do when they come over is run to see the chickens and then the pumpkins

How do you like that? I must have volunteer pumpkins! Thanks Bob. Will keep my fingers crossed for some nice mature ones for the both of us.
