over watering
I have read that the black spots on my bell pepper stalks may be due to over watering them. Does anyone know about this?

Hi Stephanie, Welcome to the Square Foot Garden Forum. Please post a photo of said spots and perhaps a broader view of where they are planted.

Over watering
I too have spots on my peppers, curling leaves and dying flowers. It's been raining here alot. So if I let the soil dry up a bit, then water sparingly, will that right the problem? I have one large green pepper already on the plant, and there are so many flowers, but they die off and turn brown. HELP!!!

Re: over watering
Without a picture it's hard to say, but I do know that the joints on pepper plants (inside the crook where stems and leaves branch out) always turn black and that's normal. And according to the book, it's possible to underwater Mel's Mix, but not overwater it. I would think that if the Mel's Mix is on top of something that does not drain well, that actually you could over water it though. But you should be able to tell if the mix was completely waterlogged.
Re: over watering
Over watering is more damaging to the plant than under watering. The rate of evaporation of water from the leaves. They should not be water on a scheduled basis, because different plant need different amounts of water and sunlight.
