Hello from Dayton OHIO!
Hi everyone! Well, I'm about to dive into "straw bale gardening". Lots of info to read and find on the internet.
I don't want to have a huge garden, so I thought "SquareFoot Gardening" was a good place to start!!
I live in Dayton, OH and want tomatoes, cucumbers and HERBS! I had an herb garden last year and absolutely fell in love with going out, picking and then cooking with them. SO FRESH, SO DELICIOUS!
OK…I'm off to explore the forums!

Supposed to be 28 here tonight, then smooth spring sailing from then on! High of 86 by Tuesday. My poor little peas are only 4 inches tall and in a week it will be too hot for them!

Thanks!
Just want to say thanks for all the welcomes!
It's been a little crazy here! I've FINALLY started the planning. I need to get going with this project or I won't have anything ready!
I'm planning on using hay bales to plant my garden. Anyone try that?

Are you planting IN the hay bales, or using the bales to make a box and filling the middle with MM? A few years ago I had a box made of hay bales with my compost pile in the middle, then soil on top. Planted zinnias and pumpkins in it.

Cincy and Dayton SFG group
I just want to invite you all to join our SFG group. We are a group of gardeners who just like to share information and encourage each other in the process. During off season, like now in February, we meet once a month and share resources, seed swap, help design our gardens. Even if you don't optin for the face to face meeting, you will enjoy the Facebook group where you can ask any questions and we have folks who can help you. Come and check it out.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/492584164192071/
Although we are focused on developing a local group, anyone can join and participate in the discussions.
