Hello from Hamilton, Ohio (SW Ohio)
Hello from an urban lot in Hamilton, Ohio! I have gardened for years. I am a natural gardener. I used to be the queen of compost 2 houses back, and I need to get back to that. I am a married mom of 4 boys, 2 still at home. Hubby grew up on a hobby farm, and they were also natural farmers, so, while his planting methods may vary, the reaching for chemicals is not what either of us do.
We now have a fenced yard, and a dog, a high energy for his age dog. Yeah, he's about 10-11 years old (we got him as a rescue about 9-10 years back, I'd have to look that up...) He's a sled dog, and they are HIGH energy pooches.
He normally wears ALL of the grass away. Here, I'm going to have to make garden and dog work together. That is a new one for me, as he used to be on a dog run cable at prior homes, so, I'd split the yard between plants, and pooch. Anyone have any experience on that? I am not a critter person, so, getting me to train a dog, well, that's just hopeless.

Re: Hello from Hamilton, Ohio (SW Ohio)
Welcome from central Ohio! If you have the book, All New Square Foot Gardening, it describes a simple plan for a critter cage, I use them extensively with great success for deer, rabbits, cats, etc. Other people use wood posts or green metal fence posts to fence in the area. If you go to the top left side of this page and type in critter cages, fencing, protecting veggies, you get the idea, you can check out other discussions and see what others have done.
Again
and enjoy the square foot gardening method!
