Hi,
I completed my plan for this summer. I plan to fill two 4X8 raised bed with full of vegetables and herbs. I decided to try the patchwork approach. Please comment !

Are you doing bush beans and determinate tomatoes? If they are indeterminate tomatoes and pole beans they will need a trellis of some sort! If they are bush varieties then the tomatoes may need some more space!! Happy planting!

All beans are bush beans. I'm still thinking that 9 plants per square is a lot but I deciced to respect the SFG method.
In my last post, I didn't mention that the sides where I planned my tomatoes and my cucumbers touch a 6 feet fence. I plan to use it to help my indeterminate tomatoes and cumcumbers to grow vertically.
For my other two tomatoes plants (Roma), I have cage for them.
Thanks for your input !

Well, your garden will sure be pretty growing with a patchwork layout like that! Just remember to take your design out with you into the garden when you're planting. I plant all the same types of plants together, but if I don't take my plan outside with me, I still manage to mess it up, lol.
I'm curious to see how caging your tomatoes will work for you. The toms that grow in my SFG get monstrously huge, like seven feet tall and so wide that I have to trim them once a week to keep them in their square. Make sure to take lots of pictures!

Valrinette,,,,,there is another kind of bean, the pole bean, that grows 6-8' tall on vines.
