Blackened seed potatoes
At night it got colder than I expected. The little tater plants are out of the ground about a 1/2 inch or more and are very very very dark colored almost black.... Maybe other eyes below will sprout? Or am I done for the season?

This is my opinion and I cannot say for certain but I think if you look under the soil you will see a green part of the stem and you could trim off whatever is dead above ground. I don't think new growth will have to come from other eyes.

Next item up for potato growers will likely be potato beetles........

Bush beans, basil, and marigolds suppose to help I think? I even made space for them in my original plans. But I got so excited cutting up all the potential eyes that I forgot to leave space...

Re: Blackened seed potatoes
My little dead-blackened crispy potato plants from early May grew back:
The flowering plants are yellow finn- with one flowering german butterball at the top center of the box.
This side of the box has Yukon gold that is dwarfed by german butterball in the center of the box. Last years Yukon Gold flowered and produced potato fruit, maybe it'll still develop.

Re: Blackened seed potatoes
Correction - the plants recovered from around April 22 not early May.
