Seed potatoes

Hi everyone, this may have been covered already but a quick search of the site found so many results that I couldn't possibly check them all. I went through the first page of results but found most of them to be reposted conversation segments, ie bob mentions seed potatoes, trevor comments and copies in bobs original mention, sarah find it funny and posts a smilie attached to the original comment and so the list goes on.

Anyway, back to the question at hand.

I have read that you cannot use regular potatoes that have started sprouting eyes as they are sprayed with something that prevents them from maturing properly (or something along those lines). But what I have organic potatoes or organic sweet potatoes that have started sprouting eyes? Surely they would not have been sprayed and the "seed" potatoes should be fine?

the spray only slows down the process of starting to sprout, one they sprout they are fine. I have planted store brought potatoes for 30 plus years and always get a nice crop. Just plain bagged russets, yukons, and reds. But you can always the buy organic and they will do fine too. Just try some of both and see how they do for you.

If you hang onto taters long enough they will indeed sprout. If you have sprouting taters, plunk 'em in the garden!!! Very Happy
