Hello! I am new to this site and excited about all that this growing season is going to bring. Last year was my first year gardening. Long story short, I planted way too much stuff way too close together. This year to space things out I was planning on using my hubby's old truck tires. After doing a bit more research I'm not sure the tires are the way to go. So far, I have a squash, zucchini, cucumber, and 2 tomato plants to get in the ground ASAP. I just re-did a front yard flower bed and put three hibiscus plants out there. Since I've decided against tires, could I plant at least 2 of my plants (like a squash and a zucchini) out front between the hibiscus? What are the spacing requirements? Any help/opinions are greatly appreciated.

Happy Gardening!

Welcome to the SFG Forum Tinab. Can you post a photo of the area you are talking about?

Use the search feature to find many back threads about companion planting, etc.

tinab..... glad you\'re here
I think you have to be a member a week before you can post pictures.
If you have at least 3 feet of space between the hibiscus, I see no problem in planting a squash or zuke between them.

QB- I posted a picture on the day I joined. I think you just have to wait a week to post website links.

Click on host an image, browse for your picture and select it, hit "host it", highlight & copy the middle url link, click "host it" again, and paste your picture in your message. I think my steps are right. Smile
