Indeterminate tomato in a 5 gallon bucket, only a little Mel's Mix. Purchased from a greenhouse.

Wondering why the bottom leaves are yellowing.

Suggestions?

That's a pretty tomato plant! Maybe it needs to be fed... some compost tea, perhaps? Very Happy

so it doesn't get waterlogged, are there stones, or holes in the bottom of the bucket? and is it getting lotsa sun?
Some indeterminate tomatoes do loose their bottom leaves, but the plant will still grow: one of ours (a cherry tomato) grow up the downspout, along the gutter, & started twirling around the electrical cable to the house, before I climbed up there & re-directed it to the roof. When the frost hit, I chopped it down, & we had tomatoes ripening in the window by the bagfuls Smile

Took the sawzall to the bottom of the bucket and made 3 "channels" then put in 3 broken chunks of concrete, and I have seen water draining out, so I don't think that's the problem.

It's located on a part of the patio that gets 7+ hours of sun every day.

Thanks for the advice CampRN, I was wondering if it needed "food" since the bucket isn't filled with 100% Mel's Mix.

Do you think I should snip off those lower most leaves?

(Funny story with a GREAT ending, Little Gardener!)
