Butterbeans?
As soon as as spring/summer garden peters out (going full blast now and awesome), we're going to try some butter beans. Does anyone have suggestions of variety of smallish green ones? Thanks....elwo

Re: Butterbeans?
I'm waiting for my peas to give up and also plan to try butterbeans. Was always a favorite of mine from my grandmothers garden. I chose a pole bean called Willow Leaf because the dried bean seed is rather small. I don't want big limas.

Hi CindiLou, Have always heard red kidneys are possibly the most healthful bean there is. What variety are you growing and where did you get the seeds.

Re: Butterbeans?
They are called Ferry Morse brand "dark red kidney (bush)" 85-105 days to harvest. Not a short season crop so I planted a 4x4 of them (minus 4 squares lol). I got them at true value...
I am hoping to dry them. I use kidney beans a lot in stews and of course chili lol..
Have them planted but they are not up yet. Well, they may be now after yesterdays rains. Seems like stuff just pops up after a rain. I will check later.
