What a Face EEK
Had bad frost last night and even though I thought I had planted my potatoes late compared to suggestions, they were all up and now look very very dead
Should I just replant now? OR is there any hope of saving them?
SURE glad my tomatoes, peppers and basil are still in the greenhouse.
2 MORE nights.

Last year mine got hit by a frost and all the growth died back. But I left them alone and new growth came in. Give them a week before writing them off.

Definitely give them more time. Potatoes can take some frost, even hard freezes. The standard planting date around here is Good Friday, which is at least 1 to 1 1/2 months before our last frost date. Quite often we even have snow or a good ice storm after the planting.

Well they have definitely had some freezes, it has frozen about every 4-5 days in the past month.

A few years ago I downloaded a program called "weatherbug". It will give me an alert any time potentially damaging weather is predicted. This time I knew about the possibility of frost day before yesterday at about noon, so was able to get everything covered before sundown.
This little program has been a life-saver in regards to being prepared for bad weather. If there is no bad weather on the map, you can still bring it up to see the forecast and current conditions.

I watch the weather every day and knew it might freeze because it has several time in the past month
Only thing is that this frost was much worse
The forecast was for it to just drop to a few degrees above freezing, but it dropped to several below freezing.

It really froze again last night and now I am afraid that my fruit trees are in jeopardy they had all of their leaves as well as buds. Now the leaves are looking very wimpy. Sad
I think we are getting into record lows for this time and this location.
