So Tuesday I went to the local landfill to get there highly touted
truck load of wood chips "all you can haul for $25" they happily
filled my 1ton truck and sent me on my way. when I go home I
went right to work unloading it in to my greenhouse but soon I
started to notice the 2’ long sticks and the forearm sized chunks
of wood I figured that was ok I’d just pick them out and send them
back via our green waist program. Then I started finding shredded
plastic bottles and other plastic bits but the deal breaker was the
chewed up surgical glove, there was no way I was growing food
stuffs in or around surgical waist. At this point I started digging the
pile back out of my greenhouse (Half of the load) and back into the
truck, I took the whole load back and got my money back.

Yesterday “Thursday” I found a local quarry where I bought 1.5 Cubic
yards (that’s 1 and a half tons) of sifted topsoil for $65. Its beautiful
I had to take off my shoes and walk in it, there was not a stick or
stone in it just pure clean dirt. MY greenhouse is nice and sturdy
now that the base is anchored the funny part is we had a storm
come through last night just after I got all the dirt in the greenhouse
so I closed things up tight and called it a night, this morning it was
like a tropical zone in the greenhouse the moisture was so thick it
was running down the walls. Hopefully it will dry out a bit today so
when I get home from work I can go in and level off the floor in
preparation for concrete pavers.

Oh no! That was a whole lotta work for nothin'! What a shame. Glad you were able to haul it back and get your money back.
