Greetings from Renfrew County, ON
I'm really excited to have found this forum! I've been raised bed gardening for about 5 years and last year I learned about the SFG principles at a local event and put them into practice for the first time with great success.
I live in Pembroke, Ontario Canada - Zone 4A. My garden consists of 6 boxes that are 4x5 feet and two boxes that are 4x10. I would love to have much more gardening space but mature trees on my property limit my space to expand. Eventually we'll move to a much larger property, but for now I try to make the most of the "sunshine" space I have.
This year I plan to incorporate more vertical trellis growing, I'm especially interested in increasing the yield for my winter squash. I'm also going to try watermelons for the first time. I've experimented with lots of non-traditional veggies for my area like okra and fennel - but the rest of the garden is fairly generic with lots of garlic, lettuce, herbs, beans, snow peas, onions, carrots, beets, radishes, tomatoes, squash & cukes.
I'm a new mom, with an interest in organic gardening to make healthy, safe food for my baby and husband.
Happy Gardening (or garden planning) from snowy Pembroke!

Re: Greetings from Renfrew County, ON

Glad to have you join us.
Nice to hear that SFG has already been successful for you.last year I learned about the SFG principles at a local event and put them into practice for the first time with great success.
The ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book has pictures and instructions for building vertical trellises. Personally, I use the (electric) conduit for trellises and add nylon trellis material with 7 inch holes similar to what is shown on pages 148 thru 156. Lightweight but very secure.
Keep us posted on your progress!

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
