I want to grow potatoes. I know my native soil has a wilt desease. How deep should I make the Mel's mix? I also want to try adding the mix as the potatoes grow- to see if I can get a few more.

Hi Tamara,

You ask a good question so I'm going to move your post to the General forum where I believe you'll get more responses. Very Happy

I used a 12" box with an additional 12" high rise for my potatoes in the SFG, you can also try the potato box. http://ft2garden.powweb.com/sinfonian/?page_id=12#comment-2256

the depth of soil will not matter since blight is airborne you will need to spray blight fungicide .

Thanks for the link chocolatepop. That's one of the better descriptions of high-rise potatoes I've read.

I don't think that it is blit. I think it is vercileum wilt or fursilium wilt (spelling?). Because it effects the tomatoes and comes back year after year. It also dosn't seem to effect neighbors. I do want to build them up but how deep will the roots go into the soil? Or can I put something down to keep them from growing into the soil.
